Veg- Momos
recipe is an international street snacks dish which is a dumpling stuffed recipe
with healthy combination of different veggies. Now a days momos are very
popular in India mostly in north India we can easily make it in our home also.
Today in this blog I want to share you Veg- Momos which are easily understand
by step by step procedures and picks.
VEG-MOMOS
We can
easily find Momos are in different stalls fillings and folding techniques ,
steamed momos with mutton, chicken , Paneer, veggies ,mushrooms and shrimps , I
want to share you momos red chutney and different folding techniques in my next
blog we can easily check it.
Traditional
veg-momos are prepared with bamboo baskets , but we can steam them in our home
with regular items like cooker ,idly streamer here I prepared momos in idly
streamer and mostly momos are made with maida flour but here I am making momos
with wheat flour to maintain our body healthy.
Serving with
tea, chutneys , tomato sauce, chilli sauces, Chinese fried rice.

HISTORY OF MOMOS:
As per WIKIPEDIA
Momos are firstly originated in Nepal,
Tibet later on it’s most popular in Japan, china as a street snack food as
early as 14 century. Later on at 19 century DOLMA TSERING a Nepal native he
started the first momos stall in India at Delhi which is more popular as street
food in north India in those days but in south India may or may not famous but
now easily available in evening snacks in street food, vendors, restaurants as
main menu.
There are 4
steps to make a Momos they are
1) Making a
wheat flour or all purposes flour (maida) dough
2) Cooking
all veggies as per your wish mixing with some Chinese sauces.
3) Filling
with veggies and different styles of folding.
4) Streaming
momos.

BENEFITS OF MOMOS:
Momos have a
rich in anti –oxidants which mixing of some healthy veggies.
Momos are
using millets so they are gluten free.
It can help to prevents the heart
diseases like heart attacks, blood clot problems.
Momos helps to digestive system and
also boost the immunity system.
Momos have a
less carbohydrates and useful for weight loss section
Momos goods
for diabetics patients will helps to maintain stable sugar levels in blood.

DERVIED INGRENDITS:
2 cups of
Wheat flour
1 cup of
Cabbage
½ cup of
Carrot
½ cup of
Potatoes
1 Onion
3 Green
chill
Steamer
Butter
6 Garlic
cloves
Handful of
Coriander leaves
1 spoon of
Tomato sauce
1 spoon of
Soya sauce
½ spoon Red
chill powder
Salt (as per
taste)
Pinch of
Turmeric
¼ tsp of
Coriander powder
¼ tsp of
Cumin powder
¼ tsp of
Gram masala.
DERVIED STEPS:
Making Dough:
Step 1: Firstly take the 2 cups of wheat or maida flour in a bowl. Pour salt (as per taste) and 2 spoons of Cooking oil.

Step 3: Slightly chopped all the veggies like 1 cup of Cabbage, ½ cup of Carrot, ½
cup of Potatoes, 1 Onion, 3 Green chill, Handful of coriander leaves.

Step 4: Take a pan add butter pour slightly Chopped onions, green chill, garlic salute for 5 min.

Step 5: Add all the veggies in pan cook them for a while in a high-flame Chinese dishes are cooked in high flame only.

Step 6: Pour 1
spoon of Soya sauce on pan.

Step 7: Pour
1 spoon of tomato sauce on pan.

Step 8: Add
all spices like ½ spoon Red chill powder, Salt (as per taste), Pinch of
Turmeric, ¼ tsp of Coriander powder, ¼ tsp of Cumin powder, ¼ tsp of Gram
masala on the pan and salute 2-3 minutes.

Step 9: check
the taste add if needed, keeps the veggies stuffing aside until cool down
completely.

Shaping
momos:
Step 10: Take the dough and divide them in an equal parts and Roll the piece of dough flatten it and roll it until it size just like round disc/plate up to 4 inches edges must be thin and center must be thick then only the stuffing with not come out.

Steaming veg -momos:
Step 12: Heat 2 cups of water in a idly steamer or cooker grease with butter in idly moulds , gently place the all the momos on the streamer.

Step 13: steam them for 10 min, when you touch the momos the dough should not feel sticky then your momos are ready.

Step 14: At last remove the momos keep serving them in a plate and enjoy with tomato-chill sauce, mamo red chutney.

PROCEDURE:
Making dough:
- Firstly take the 2 cups of wheat or maida flour in a bowl. Pour salt (as per taste) and 2 spoons of Cooking oil.
- Mix them very well with a help of required water to form a soft and non sticky. Place the dough aside with a tight cap for 30 min then only the dough get more Softer and easily melt while eating.
Cooking veggies:
- Slightly chopped all the veggies like 1 cup of Cabbage, ½ cup of Carrot, ½ cup of Potatoes, 1 Onion, 3 Green chill, Handful of coriander leaves.
- Take a pan add butter pour slightly Chopped onions, green chill, garlic salute for 5 min.
- Add all the veggies in pan cook them for a while in a high-flame Chinese dishes are cooked in high flame only.
- Pour 1 spoon of Soya sauce , tomato sauce on pan.
- Add all spices like ½ spoon Red chill powder, Salt (as per taste), Pinch of Turmeric, ¼ tsp of Coriander powder, ¼ tsp of Cumin powder, ¼ tsp of Gram masala on the pan and salute 2-3 minutes.
- check the taste add if needed , keeps the veggies stuffing aside until cool down completely.
Shaping momos:
- Take the dough and divide them in an equal parts and Roll the piece of dough flatten it and roll it until it size just like round disc/plate up to 4 inches edges must be thin and center must be thick then only the stuffing with not come out.
- place 1 to 2 spoons of vegetables stuffing them in the center.
- Make a flips lift one side to another and start folding with gently hands.
- Forming the pleats one by one towards the edge ,join them in center as shown in below figure. make all the momos , keep them Aside .

- Heat 2 cups of water in a idly steamer or cooker grease with butter in idly moulds , gently place the all the momos on the streamer.
- steam them for 10 min, when you touch the momos the dough should not feel stricky then your momos are ready.
- At last remove the momos keep serving them in a plate and enjoy with tomato-chill sauce, mamos red chutney.
- Finnally , our veg -momos is ready taste the each piece of smooth and tasty veg-momos.
BEST FOR MORE RESULTS:
We can use flour as per your choice but knead a dough to
firm texture if the texture may lose add more flour knead again.
For stuffing process we can add different veggies like
paneer, mushroom chicken, mutton ,leafy vegetables as per your choice.
Adding flavors is must we can add more but don’t skip any
spices
Chinese dishes are cooked in high flame only but while
steaming maintain medium –flame only.

After steaming
the momos touch the dough should not sticky then our momos are ready.
